Nikon Australia returned to the sponsorship podium for the 2009 SuperGP race on the Gold Coast in October, having deferred its involvement this year due to the global financial crisis.
The naming rights sponsor for the 2008 event (previously promoted as the Indy 300), Nikon decided to 'reassess its commitment' for 2009 in the wake of the GFC.
"Our experience with the event in 2008 was fantastic and we really wanted to be a part of it again, however early in the year the global economic crisis saw us have to reassess our commitment and we were unfortunately unable to look at a full-scale sponsorship agreement, which wasn?t fair to the event," Nikon Australia general manager of sales and marketing James Murray said.
