I think we would all agree this has been one of the trickiest years photo retailers have had to work through since the upheaval changes that were required of us to move into the digital age.
However, when we look at the performances this year of our major retailers we see that excellent marketing, good product mix and strong supplier partnerships have given them good growth. Excellent results by Camera House, Ted's, JB Hi-Fi and Harvey Norman show that demand for our products and services does not diminish even during hard fiscal times. Announcements of major capital investment in new photo production machinery by Ted's and Kmart show that these companies are buoyant about the future of our industry.
PMA has also had an excellent year with terrific attendance at the Sydney show in June and bookings for next year's Digital LIfe Expo in Melbourne already very strong. There have been some excellent industry events in every state and some fantastic new online initiatives such as PMA TV, PMA IT Forum and new look newsline and websites ensuring its members get excellent value and resources.
The US PMA show is in Anaheim next year and makes an ideal location for extending your trip for a family holiday to Disneyland and Los Angeles, I hope to see a strong Australian contingent.
On behalf of everyone here at PMA Australia I wish you a prosperous festive season and a fantastic 2010.
