PMA News: Ted's Cameras donates $20,000 to the heroes of Victorian bushfires
After the horrific bushfires in Victoria earlier this year a lot of Ted’s staff wanted to know how they could assist.
A staff donation plan was put together between Ted’s and the other Blythe family companies. The deal was simple – whatever the staff donated, Brian Blythe would match dollar for dollar.
The Ted’s staff and staff from the other Blythe family businesses went into overdrive collecting funds.
Weekly updates kept staff aware of how the fund was building and this helped keep the momentum going. The final total raised by the staff was an incredible $10,000!
This quickly became $20,000 when the Blythe family doubled up the staff donations.
Just how best to use this fantastic sum was something everyone cared about. They wanted to see this money really have an impact in the affected communities.
After long deliberation, the money was presented to the captain of the Kinglake CFA, Craig Lawless, at Ted’s AGM in September.
The Kinglake area was one of the hardest hit during the fires and many of the Kinglake fire crew lost their houses while saving others.
According to Craig, the donation represents around four years’ fund-raising for the group and will go a long way to improving their services and help protect the Kinglake community.
