Graeme has had a long and successful association with the industry down here in Tasmania, fulfilling many roles - but all based around his attention to detail, personable nature, and follow up. From Kodak employee to Agfa rep, retail partner with the Stallard boys in the Hobart store and manufacturer’s agent, he has been a respected member of the photo fraternity through all its changes, highs and lows.
Sixteen of us got together for drinks and dinner at the Custom’s House Hotel on Hobart’s waterfront and, as they say, “you haven’t been to Hobart until you’ve been through Customs”!
Obviously with such luminaries as Peter and Kerry Stallard, along with son Mark, Allan Waugh form Photoforce, Owen Scott of Image Point, Roy Tait from Tassie Cameras and Photos and the man who’s taste for red wine ages as well as he does, Tim Jones, this was always going to be a night to remember.
A couple of old friends joined us. David Shepherd and Jeff Bester were in fine form while Graeme Carter took time out from touring his favourite state to do a bit of “work”! The supplier’s balance was maintained with Stuart Holmes from IPS making the journey from Sydney for the night. Invites to Agfa, Konica and Kodak went, strangely, unanswered!
It’s a good thing we were well-warmed because it was snowing outside, but both Floyedy and Pauline enjoyed the night and Graeme’s words of thanks were obviously from the heart.
The Tasmanian PMA family may not get together often or in huge numbers, but we remain a fun-loving and dedicated group who will miss the sort of regular camaraderie Graeme Floyed always engendered.
