Those who knew David English (born in the UK 1940) would have been pleased to see a large congregation present to farewell our old friend, who lost his 18 year battle with Parkinson's disease.
The service was held on Monday August 16 at the Shoalhaven Crematorium outside of Nowra on the NSW South Coast.Friends from Canon included Ian and Sue Thresher, Mark Nash and Adrian Sindall who had travelled from Perth. Ken Dobson and his wife Bernice (who had been in constant contact with David in recent years) were also there recounting how active David had been with Rotary and in his local community.
David's history in the photo industry had been extensive, initially with Hanimex as National Sales Manager then with Rank Industries managing Canon sales before joining Canon when they took over distribution in Australia. His workmates at Canon shared a number of stories that highlighted his professional approach to his role and especially his humour. As was mentioned during the service one of his favourite sayings was "Life in too serious to be taken seriously".
David was a founder of the PIC group.
David also loved sport and was a Premiere League footballer and County Cricketer in the UK.
He is survived by his wife Marguerite.
He will be missed.
