Expanding photo retailer digiDIRECT.com.au is looking to open more stores as a growing number of its online customers make visits to its three ‘bricks and mortar’ outlets.
digiDIRECT managing director Shant Kradjian told PIN Online that the following the successful opening last month of its latest store at Westfield Miranda in Sydney’s south, the company was “always on the lookout” for additional outlets, within NSW and interstate.
Kradjian said the new store, which is similar in design to the flagship CBD store in King Street and the original store in Westfield Bondi Junction, got off to a “good start” although hardware sales were “slow but picking up.”
He said the Miranda store, previously operating as one of FUJIFILM’s disbanded Rabbit Photo group chain, was doing “good business” in photo gifts and prints and was the best performing of the three stores for last week’s Mother’s Day trade.
DigiDIRECT has limited competition at Miranda Westfield, namely JB Hi-Fi and a small Kodak Express outlet. Myer offered substantial discounts on several cameras in the lead-up to Mother’s Day, including the latest Nikon Coolpix S3000 for $159.00.
digiDIRECT is offering all existing Rabbit Photo Miranda loyalty club members free membership to its VIP service.
Meantime, digiDIRECT’s two other stores are building business among high-end customers with two professional photographers working out of the King Street store and three spending time at Bondi Junction.
“We’ve got some knowledgeable people working with us and it’s helped up achieve the number one position in NSW for pro sales for Canon,” Kradjian added.
