PMA Imaging Show goes for Entertainment too

In a bid to capitalize on the growing convergence between imaging equipment and home and mobile entertainment products, the annual PMA Australia produced imaging show will be given a new name and treatment at the 2011 show in Sydney, NSW, Australia.

Now in its 30th year, the show will be promoted under the name of Imaging & Entertainment Expo and it will be held at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre in Darling Harbour, Friday, June 24, to Sunday, June 26, 2011.

A highlight of the new show format will be a special consumer education zone featuring well known electronics experts explaining home connectivity and how to best incorporate the new products into you lifestyle.

“Education is the key to all that we do,” says Peter Rose, director, Australia activities. “We have had great success with our trade education seminars and the huge crowds that came to our recent Melbourne show to learn how to get the best out of their photography completely overwhelmed us. We are now out to extend that educational reach into the home and mobile entertainment market.

“All digital life style products are converging and will have a big impact on the way we live our lives,” says Dave Marshall, president, PICA. “Home and mobile entertainment is particularly becoming more integrated with consumer imaging and thus should become part and parcel with our show.”

A draft floor plan has been released with most of the major companies having already negotiated key spaces on the floor plan. Show bookings have been brisk and with 9 months to run before the show opens, the floor plan is already 65 per cent sold

“Major companies, are now nearly all in place and space allocations are being made in accordance first with the stand size and secondly in order of the received applications,” says John Bourne, consulting sales manager. “The internet has greatly increased the relevance of shows such as our Imaging & Entertainment Expo. Both the attendance and the need for such consumer exhibitions are growing around the world.”

PMA maintains that with consumers turning more and more to the internet for their prime source of product information, the show floor is the only place to see and compare all products with their full accessory range.

The show will also be held in conjunction with the Framing Expo and exhibitor space booking forms and a draft floor plan can be obtained from the PMA Australian office, or by emailing jbourne@pmai.org.
