The report, derived from a survey of 1500 Australian households conducted in March and April 2009, includes a look at consumer ownership and usage of digital cameras and camera phones.
The report is funded from profits accrued by the industry in running the annual industry exhibition and convention. This is the third year is has been conducted, and it now provides some valuable trend information in addition to the annual snapshot of consumer picture-taking activity.
In Australia, 73 percent of households already own digital cameras. Camera phone adoption is in the advanced stages as well, with 73 percent of households owning them, up from 66 percent in 2008.
The report also examines how consumers use and store digital images, including the percentage making prints and printing methods used. Consumer Imaging in Australia 2009 also provides some insight into the quickly evolving market for photo-publishing products, such as photo books, cards, and other customised products.
The report is available from the marketing research area of the PMA website. The basic report is free to members. Non-members of PMA may buy the report for $249.
