HP re-enters camera market (but not yet in Australia)

After a two-year absence, HP has re-entered the camera market with the release of five new point and shoot cameras and three camcorders.
HP showcased the new models at last week’s PMA Show in California but the company has made no announcement about a release date for countries other than the US.
A spokesperson for HP in Australia told PIN Online that nothing official had been forthcoming about an Australian launch.
The cameras and camcorders come in slim, lightweight designs at prices ranging from US$99 to US$199 (RRP).
Adding to its growing portfolio of touch-enabled notebooks and desktops, HP now features LCD touchscreen displays on selected cameras and camcorders.
“HP is giving consumers a better way to interact with point-and-shoot cameras by offering models with advanced features at a great value,” said Mark Ostendorf, manager, Business Development, Personal Systems Group, HP (USA).
“Entry-level consumers will love the HP CW series while customers who want a premium experience will enjoy the touch interface of the HP CW450t or PW460t and two of our new camcorders,” he said.
