Industry offers $5000 prize for best video on YouTube

A national video competition via social media site YouTube will be launched in a few weeks as part of a major consumer campaign to promote interest in the forthcoming PMA Digital Life Expo in Melbourne.

A $5000 prize is being offered in the national video contest, which will be part of the industry’s ‘Bring Your Pictures to Life’ promotion.

At a recent Photo Industry Council meeting in Melbourne, it was agreed that funds from the national advertising program would be made available to interested retailers to jointly promote customer attendance at the show, to be held in Melbourne from June 4 to 6.

“With retailers matching the fund dollar for dollar in their own personalised TV, radio and press advertising, it is expected to double the reach of the campaign,” PIC spokesperson Paul Curtis told Photo & Imaging News.

Curtis said that due to the location of the show, much of the promotional funds available will be spent in the local Melbourne market.

“However, the video/You Tube competition is national and promotional material will be available in all states. The show will also be actively promoted on Twitter and Facebook,” he said.

He added material for participating dealers will be available in May.
